About Rx Ranch

The Letner FamilyRx Ranch is a 1,100 head commercial cow-calf operation located in north central Missouri.   Dr. Larry and Kristy Letner have three children; Lindsay, Will and Jake.  The ranch  is owned and operated by veterinarian Dr. Larry Letner, his wife Kristy and son Jake.  The ranch has been in operation since 1983 with the focus on a common sense approach to utilizing grazing practices and applying scientific knowledge to herd health. The base herd consists of black and red western origin calving cows.  Utilizing 100% purebred registered Charolais bulls has brought genetic predictability to their cow herd.  The Charolais bulls are purchased from the Wienk Charolais Ranch in South Dakota.  In their strictly grazing only operation, the bulls have to be able to maintain condition, breeding ability, soundness and provide uniformity and performance in their terminal cross operation.

Rx Ranch continually focuses on improving conception rates and percent of live calves to market.  In dealing with a grazing operation and mother nature, short term goals are always changing.  However, a long term goal was realized in 2003 with the finalization of Letner’s own fundamental mineral supplement.

Printed health and information sheets are used as a marketing tool at Rx Ranch.  All calves are marketed on the same day and represented with and guaranteed for health  and performance.  With the health data, uniformity and numbers, the calves are sold in load lots at Knoxville Regional Livestock Market.
